Fresh out of journalism school, I joined Arkansas Life magazine — a monthly lifestyle magazine published by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. With an editorial footprint that covered the entire state, the magazine celebrated the best of Arkansas — its people, history, culture, food, and under-the-radar gems.
Beyond producing each monthly issue alongside an exceptionally talented editorial team, I played an integral role in the magazine's first major redesign. Over the course of several months, we reimagined everything from its mission and content to its visual identity, ushering in a more elevated look and feel.

Selected Writing: The First Step
Alongside editing, I wrote several long-form pieces for the magazine. This feature — a product of months of reporting and writing — won Magazine Writer of the Year at the Great Plains Journalism Awards and a Gold Award for Profile Writing from the International Regional Magazine Association (IRMA).
